1st Birthday Party

The Saturday after London's birthday we had a birthday party with our families. My boss was kind enough to let us have it in the kitchen at work. It was simple, but cute. Here are some of the pictures from the event.

The cake looked better in person. I did it with a rough finish, so the picture just makes it look undone. It could have been a little better, but my week was a mess, so I had little time to make the cake.

Max's Birthday Cake

I got my camera back, so some of these posts are from a little while ago. For Max's birthday he wanted a pirate cake. Kwana helped me frost it. It was pretty cute. Here are some pictures of it as well as of Max about to blow out the candles.

Carrie's Wedding

So Saturday Carrie got married. We are finally done with the wedding for awhile. It went well. They were married in the Provo Temple and then their reception was in my parent's yard. Hopefully I will get more pictures, but this is what I have for now. They wanted to do a Groom's cake, which normally is just whatever the groom is in to, and not really with the theme. They asked me to make a superhero cake. It looks ok, but I definately need more practice. Be nice as this is only my second fondant attempt. When I get the other pics of the kids at the wedding I will post those. They all looked so handsome!

Julie's Wedding

So, Julie got married about 2 weeks ago, but things have been so crazy I haven't gotten to get the pictures from my brother. They had a nice backyard ceremony and then a fun BBQ party after. All my boys were quite handsome, I must say. I got to get a fun new dress as well. I also made the cake. She wanted a cupcake cake because she isn't a big fan of cake. We did a little polka-dot cake in her colors on the top for them to cut into. The rest of it was just cupcakes for everyone to eat. It was my first attempt at fondant, so for that I guess it was pretty good. It was really relaxed and low key. My Dad was able to marry them and my 8-year old brother was their little ring bearer. He's so cute. He was so worried about doing he. He said, "I'm the ring bearer, but I don't know how to get to the place where they are getting married." I said, "Don't worry, Mom and Dad have a map and they will get you there and you'll get a seat on the front row." He relaxed a little after that. Here are some pictures from Julie's wedding to Jake.

Aidan's Cake

So one Sunday a month we get together with my family (Suzy) and have a birthday dinner for all the people who have birthdays that month. This month is Aidan and "J". Aidan will be be 11 on Friday the 14th and "J" will be 8 on Easter, the 23rd. I let Aidan pick the cake he wanted and he wanted me to make a camp fire cake. "S" and Aidan helped me make the cake and we made a couple logs with marshmallows for the coals and little flames. The candles will make a real fire on top. We'll put "J"'s candles on one of the logs and Aidan's on the other log. We were going to use chocolate covered donut holes for the coals but couldn't get any in time so we opted for the chocolate marshmallows. It was fun to make and Aidan really liked eating the frosting off the spoons when I was done. He said they were calling to him.

Spiderman

So I did my first cake decorating attempt last night. I made a cake for Andrew. We celebrated his birthday on his real birthday, but with my family we did a birthday dinner tonight. For those seasoned decorators please don't laugh at my bad technique! It was my first try...but I must say...I am extremely proud!
