A New Niece

In a hoody towel from their house.
So, my new niece was delivered this morning...by her Dad...in their bed!  And this was not a planned home delivery.  My sister-in-law finally had regular contractions at 2:45 a.m. and so my sister headed over to watch their sleeping kids.  By the time she got there at 3:00 a.m., the baby had been delivered in their bed and Dan was clamping the cord.  Anna called 911 and they came and helped take care of everything else.  I know McKell did a great job delivering the baby and staying calm under the circumstances, but man, I have to hand it to Dan!  When the baby's head came out a little, the cord was wrapped around her neck.  He knew if McKell pushed again it would be bad news.  He quickly pushed the baby back in a little and pulled the cord back around.  Then McKell pushed and she was born.  They had to clamp the cord with a shoelace until they got to the hospital and could clamp it.  Mom and baby (and Daddy) are all doing good.  As a side note, my 2-year-old nephew had snuck into bed with them.  He missed most of the excitement, but awoke to the first shot of his baby sister.  He was so excited and really didn't understand what else was going on, just that there was a baby there.  My sister was trying to get in the house and so she was trying to call Dan and McKell because they weren't answering (because they were delivering...but she didn't know that).  Dan had a baby in one hand and a cord in the other.  McKell was, busy.  So, Dan told Eli to answer the phone and hand it to his Mom.  He did and McKell was able to tell Anna to call 911.  So, Eli also saved the day!  Wow, surrounded by heroes!  Congrats Mommy and Daddy!
